Lorna is among a small but growing handful of women trying to change the perception that only men can work as guides in Masai Mara. She joined Basecamp in 2013 after graduating from Koiyaki Guiding School. Her understanding of the mammals is outstanding, and she can identify every bird that flies past as she cruises the vast Mara Plains. She does the game drives, nature walks, and village tours, which gives her a comprehensive knowledge of the area and its inhabitants, both wild and human. Besides being a guide, Lorna serves as a receptionist. Her outgoing personality is well-suited to the position, which requires an engaging, communication style in order to connect with people.
