From 20 May 2019 ISFJORD-EKSPRESSEN is Basecamp Explorer´s new shuttle boat with daily departures between Longyearbyen and Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel at Kapp Linné.
Exploring the Isfjord
With ISFJORD-EKSPRESSEN Basecamp Explorer introduces a new boat standard in Svalbard, that will make it easier to explore the Isfjord area and visit Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel:
The boat has room for 12 passengers and a crew of 3. It offers high comfort with inside seats with window views for everyone. There is a small toilet and kitchen, a large outside deck and good space for your luggage. There is a new dock at Isfjord Radio making the approach and disembarking smooth and easy for everyone:
– With the new dock at Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel we can welcome guests from the beginning of May until sometime into October, says leader of the Board in Basecamp Explorer Spitsbergen, Brita Knutsen Dahl.
Our captains
A vessel like ISFJORD-EKSPRESSEN needs highly experienced and qualified captains. We are happy to present to you Ted van Broeckhuysen, previous owner and captain at M/S Norderlicht.
– For 12 years Ted and Maaike were our Basecamp hosts in the “ship in the ice”. We are very happy that Van Broeckhuysen now joins us when we introduce and develop a new boat concept in Svalbard, says a very satisfied Knutsen Dahl.
Traveling with ISFJORD-EKSPRESSEN is more than transportation. Our highly experienced Basecamp captains are ready to take you safely into the wilderness and we will make sure to guide you to the local settlements and wildlife along the way.
The boat can also be chartered and rented for safaris and private expeditions.
For those who still would like to travel by our RIB Polarcirkel Boats, they will still be in our fleet.
