Mara Walking Trails

Set out on foot on this 7-day safari to experience the wild wonders of Mara plains from the unique perspective of the Maasai people who call it home. This is an exhilarating and unique mobile camping safari adventure. Follow the Mara game trails deeper into the pristine wilderness and be inspired by the wanderings of the Dorobo people and the nature that surrounds you on.

Day 1

As soon as your plane touches down at Ol Seki airstrip, our friendly and knowledgeable Maasai guide will be standing by ready to take you on your very first game drive, this will give you a perspective of Naboisho Conservancy and the wildlife you will encounter during your safari walks. Arrive at Wilderness Camp in time for lunch. Relax in your tent to allow you to settle into the area and adjust to the pace of safari. Meet your guide for an afternoon game drive. Return to camp for dinner followed by relaxation at the campfire.

Wilderness Camp

Day 2

Today you will have game drives as scheduled from Wilderness Camp. Naboisho Conservancy is community-owned nature conservancy bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve that helps protect an area vital for the survival of the entire Mara ecosystem. During your drive, our guide will point out the wildlife on the vast savannah most of them being the legendary creatures of the conservancy that includes lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, and buffalo, among others.

Wilderness Camp

Day 3

Enjoy an early hearty breakfast before departing on an exciting walking safari accompanied by our skilled Maasai guides. As you walk through the wilderness your guide will inform you more about the big 5 and the small 5 and how to identify their footprints, skulls and dung. After a few hours of walking, enjoy a picnic lunch served under the shade of an acacia tree. Relax for some time before you start your afternoon walk to our unique campsites where specially designed Dorobo mobile tents and a fireplace await you.

Day 4

Depart after breakfast for a full day walking safari. Prepare to experience yet another day of a fulfilling safari adventure as you embrace nature and magnificent landscapes stretched out across the plains. As the day gets warmer, your guide will choose a suitable acacia tree, where you will relax and enjoy a picnic lunch. When the temperature cools down, you will continue your walk to yet another carefully selected campsite for dinner followed by relaxation and Maasai stories by the campfire.

Dorobo Mobile Camp

Day 5

Enjoy an early breakfast as you prepare for the last leg of the mobile camping safari. Your next destination is Eagle View Camp. Eagle View Camp is our luxury tented camp that is perched atop a natural hilltop, a perfect location for spectacular scenery of the wilderness within Naboisho Conservancy. Enjoy a real hot shower after days out in the bush before heading for dinner followed by relaxation and storytelling at the campfire.

Day 6

Spend your day at leisure partaking in the conservancy’s activities. Plan a visit to Koiyaki guiding school where young Maasai’s learn about conservation and wildlife guiding skills. Undisturbed wildlife viewing is guaranteed in this private conservancy, and during your game drives, you will be treated to a variety of big cat sightings among other plains game. End your day with a Basecamp sundowner, or two before embarking on a night game drive for a chance to spot the nocturnal wildlife.

Day 7

Wake up for a final morning game drive. Return to camp for breakfast and check out as you cherish the memories and reflect on your memorable safari experience. Enjoy one last game drive on your way to Ol Seki Airstrip where you will catch your flight to Nairobi and onto your connecting flight to your next destination. As you depart think of the memories of communing with man and nature.

Equipment and Clothing

Comfortable safari clothes – avoid white due to the dust, warm sweater or fleece for the evenings, wind and waterproof jacket, solid hiking boots for the walking safari, comfortable footwear for the game drives, binoculars, sunscreen, sun hat & sunglasses, a good book, camera and extra battery, headlight, mosquito repellent for protection while outdoors, pack in solid soft bag.
