Taste of the Maasai Mara

Experience the great Masai Mara area with Basecamp

Hidden away under thatched roofs on a lush peninsula along the Talek River, Basecamp offers an experience that combines authentic hosting and cultural immersion in the company of local Maasai hosts and guides. The camp provides an excellent base for exploring nature conservation like the Basecamp Nature Forest and Community-based initiatives that promote & preserve local culture and talent.

Day 1

Arrive in Nairobi where you will be transferred to Wilson Airport to catch a 45-minute flight to Masai Mara. If you have a late-night flight or an early morning arrival, we can arrange for your accommodation in Nairobi to unwind and relax before your departure to Masai Mara at an extra cost (enquire upon booking). Your Masai guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to our camp in Masai Mara with a short game drive en-route. Basecamp Masai Mara sits on a picturesque bend along the Talek River in one of the most game-rich areas of the Masai Mara Reserve. Enjoy lunch and make plans to settle in for the rest of the afternoon. Your late afternoon will be spent exploring the Masai renowned for the great wildebeest migration and abundant wildlife including the Big Five. Head back in the evening in time for a delicious three-course dinner, followed by story sharing and stargazing around the fireplace. When you are ready, retire to your tent to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the wilderness.
