Start off at Wilderness Camp in Mara Naboisho Conservancy our nostalgic tribute to the safaris of the early explorers and safari pioneers. In the Masai Mara, stay at Basecamp Masai Mara this is where our story started. Here guests become more than visitors, they become part of the Maasai community. Then at Eagle View in Mara Naboisho Conservancy we invite you to gaze towards the future of Sustainable Tourism from an eagle’s-eye perspective within a highly acclaimed model for nature conservation management. Finally, Leopard Hill concludes your journey through the Basecamp circuit located in the prime game viewing area of Mara Naboisho and is a stunning camp ideal for those who want to experience their safari in style.

Day 1

When you land in Nairobi, you will be met by our driver guide who will transfer you to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Mara Naboisho. On arrival, our Maasai guide will transfer you to Wilderness Camp where you will spend the next 2 nights.  Wilderness camp is tucked away deep inside the incomparable Saddle Valley, where there are absolutely no unnecessary distractions- it is just you, the Maasai, the wildlife, and the stars. Enjoy dinner at the restaurant or under the stars with the sounds of the bush surrounding you.

Day 2

Your morning and afternoon game drives take you in search of Africa’s Big Five and other wildlife inhabiting this conservancy. Naboisho Conservancy has become renowned for its bountiful biodiversity and breathtaking beauty. The density of lions within Mara Naboisho Conservancy is one of the highest in Africa, with a population of more than 70 identified lions who use it as their home territory. While here, you become a part of nature. Maasai guides will share their knowledge about every species with you, and make your stay warm and special.

Day 3

Now that you have acclimated to the African bush, it’s time for a walkabout! A few hours of walking with your guide gives you an opportunity to not only see Africa’s magnificent landscapes and wildlife but also to hear, smell, feel, taste and intimately sense what our earliest ancestors and later explorers experienced while traveling on foot. After lunch transfer to your next destination, Basecamp Masai Mara. Basecamp Masai Mara offers magnificent views across the Masai Mara National Park. Enjoy dinner then retire by the roaring campfire as you share your day’s experience.

Day 4

On this day, you can choose to go on a hot air balloon safari over the Mara plains with a Champaign breakfast as soon as you land (at an extra cost book during reservation). Or enjoy game drives to the Masai Mara Game Reserve to track big game on the open plains from the dominant predators- lion; leopard; hyena and cheetah to plain game-wildebeest, topi, eland, zebra, and Grant’s gazelle. As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner, followed by stargazing as you listen to your Maasai Guide tell stories about their culture at the fireplace.

Day 5

Join your guide for a camp tour and learn about some of the operational elements that have made Basecamp Masai Mara a leading pioneer in responsible tourism. Visit Basecamp Masai Brand one of our capacity-building projects that helps women improve their financial independence. Top off your walk with a visit to the tree plantation area. Learn about Basecamp’s reforestation project that is intended to re-wild the Mara. We encourage our guests to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint by planting a tree at a minimal fee. Later you will be transferred to your next destination Eagle View in Mara Naboisho.

Day 6

Set out for today’s game drive or walking safari in Mara Naboisho. See plenty of great wildlife including elephants, giraffes, wildebeests and hundreds of antelope, birds, insects and other Wildlife. After your morning activities, plan to visit Koiyaki Guiding a capacity-building institution supported by Basecamp Explorer. The school offers a training course for students aspiring to be professional guides. Wind up your day watching the sunset over the African horizon, with a Basecamp sundowner on an evening game drive. When driving back to camp you will have a night game drive experience.

Eagle View

Day 7

Enjoy your morning at leisure. Eagle View overlooks a natural waterhole, which is frequented throughout the day by wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, and antelopes providing plenty of wildlife actions in the comfort of the camp’s environs. Later, you will be transferred to Leopard Hill. All the tents overlook large watering holes so excellent sightings are common even from the camp. In the evening rest by your private fireplace enjoying the sights and sounds of Africa all to yourselves.

Day 8

Today in the company of your Maasai guide head out for a game drive or a walking safari in the conservancy. The area around Leopard Hill is restricted from motorized vehicles so you are able to enjoy the scenery without disturbance. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. You can choose to treat yourself to a relaxing massage session in the comfort of your tent (at an extra cost book with reception). End your day with a stargazing experience right inside your tent where you have a retractable roof that gently slides back for a perfect nightly scene.

Leopard Hill

Day 9

Spend your last day at leisure. Awake to a yoga session in the morning or join your guide for your last game drive or walking safari. Now that your safari has come to an end, ensure you pack up all your belongings as you get ready to say your goodbyes to the African Bush. After lunch, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Nairobi to catch your onward flight.
