Who is an Askari?
An Askari (Masai Warrior) is a security personnel in charge of maintaining security at the camp both at day and night time.

Since all our three camps are not fenced, every so often wild animals can be found in and around the camp area. To ensure your safety, the Maasai Askaris patrol the camp at regular intervals monitoring the movements of wild animals in and around the camp area. Please note although there are no guarantees, attacks by wild animals in the camps are very rare.
Maasai askaris have always been known to be one of the bravest and fiercest warriors in Africa. For this reason, the camps remain as safe as possible for both our guests and our staff. We encourage our guests to adhere to the camps security guidelines which includes being accompanied by a guard to your tent for the night after dinner, not leaving your tent or remain on the balcony during or after dark until the following morning. For guests with early morning safari activities, our guards will pick you up from your tent on time and escort you to the reception.
In addition, we provide a radio, flashlight and a whistle inside your tent for use in case you feel threatened but we assure you your safety courtesy of our Maasai guards. Our staff will also show you how to use the radio phone in case of an emergency, and our guards will respond to your radio call immediately. As you retire for the night relax and enjoy the sounds of the African bush at night.
