Horseback Safari
A horseback safari is an adventurous way to discover the pristine beauty of the Masai Mara plains.
When staying at Eagle View or Leopard Hill, guests can explore Olerai Conservancy in Masai Mara on horseback, an exhilarating adventure that allows you the freedom to ride across the open terrain dotted with wildlife whilst enjoying the magnificent scenery. Olerai is a private 5000-acre conservancy, that is characterized by lush plains, trickling streams, rocky crags and forested hills.
Typically, the ride can last between one and four hours, covering a distance that suits your equestrian ability. You can choose whether to ride out at dawn and return to camp for a late breakfast or enjoy a short evening ride, stopping for a sundowner as the sun slips below the horizon. While here you’ll experience truly natural Africa as it has been since the beginning of time the perfect, laidback introduction to our horseback safaris.
Guests will have an opportunity to venture out for horse rides every morning at 8:00 am and in the afternoon at around 3:00 pm. Enjoy a gentle 2-hour ride exploring the open plains and interacting with the abundant wildlife. The riding pace will depend on the ability of the group but generally, we keep to a walk or trot and we keep to open areas with good visibility. Throughout your ride expect to encounter a variety of wildlife such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo, eland, zebra, wildebeest, and the graceful impala among others.
Horse riding is at an extra charge and reservations must be made and confirmed prior to arrival. Requests can be made when making your booking reservations.
