Children
Being on safari as a family is a special and exciting experience and at Basecamp, we are dedicated to providing the ultimate safari experience to both the young and old. Each of our camps is uniquely designed and due to the broad product diversity, there are certain considerations to take into account when planning a family safari. We have something for everyone regardless of age and we have carefully developed some guidelines that will help families make the most of their safari.
Children of all ages are welcome to stay with us at Basecamp Masai Mara. The lush lawns at the camp provide an opportunity for the children to take part in a number of tailored activities such as bow and arrow making, butterfly catching, wildlife tracking among others keeping the children engaged and educated.
Due to the camp’s design and rustic nature at Eagle View and Leopard Hill, the recommended age for children staying here is 7 years. All children staying at Eagle View and Leopard Hill must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
Given the wild nature at Wilderness Camp and Dorobo Mobile Camp, the minimum recommended age for children staying here is 12 years.
The Maasai people are very fond of children and they are happy to cater to the youngsters, however, arrangements to get a childminder should be made before arrival. For our young travelers, the Young Explorers Club has a lot to offer the children while the parents are on a game drive safari or walking safari.
Immerse yourself in nature in the most pristine environments set against the backdrops of Masai Mara while staying at Basecamp Masai Mara a safari camp that embraces the region’s communities, culture, wildlife and its environment to become the paradigm of a symphonic eco-retreat and Eagle View a plush permanent camp that provides remote and exclusive tented accommodation in the private Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Enjoy personalized service and comfort at this tranquil oasis where both the young and the young at heart are catered for.
Enjoy a family safari while staying at Basecamp Masai Mara in Masai Mara and Leopard Hill in Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Our camps are complemented by the difference in location and architectural character offering different dimensions of being on safari. We have plenty of safari activities planned for the whole family.
