Winter programs Isfjord Radio, Kapp Linne

Day 1 Arrival day:

 At the airport you will be met by your Svalbard guide who takes you to Basecamp Spitsbergen. The guide will give a sightseeing in Longyearbyen included a visit to Svalbard museum before going to the hotel. Baguette lunch after arrival the hotel.

Arriving the Trappers Lodge in Longyearbyen you will check into your private rooms, built like the trappers cabins. With driftwood timber, Russian wetwood and homemade furniture... The authentic atmosphere gives you an opportunity to relieve stress, forget the modern society and concentrate on your emotions within. You can leave the suites and ties at home! Although the interiors look a lot like the authentic cabins, all rooms have private bathrooms and excellent beds - but there is no TV in the rooms! For those who feel the need to be updated about the world news, there is a television in the Cognac Attic. This is a small room with a glass roof and a view to the Arctic Light and the mountains surrounding us.

Later we enjoy a 2-courses trapper’s dinner included drinks at The Trapping Station in Bolterdalen.

At the Trapping Station you get information about hunters’ life and you have an opportunity to see how they arrange their living during over wintering in the Arctic. Our Trappers Hut is decorated in same style as all hunting cabins up here in north, furniture is homemade of timber and Russian drift wood and sanitary conditions are authentic. In the “Gamme" you can sit on reindeer and sheep skins around open fire place and enjoy the simple but magic life in the arctic. Accommodation in double rooms at Basecamp Spitsbergen.

Day 2 Snowmobile expedition to Isfjord Radio

After a solid breakfast in Travellers Club, the guides hand out thermal clothing for everybody. These are suites, shoes, gloves, facial protection, goggles and helmets. A brief introduction to the snowmobile driving, precedes the handover of your snowmobile. Two people will share one snowmobile. We spend the entire day crossing beautiful glaciers, valleys and plains. Depending on the weather and driving conditions, the guide chooses the route and we arrives the station in the afternoon. Day 3 Snowmobile expedition

After breakfast we leave for the civilization and Basecamp Spitsbergen again. But first we spend the entire day crossing beautiful glaciers, valleys and plains.

Depending on the weather and driving conditions, the guide chooses the adventure for the day. If everybody is up to it, and the conditions are right, we might head for the East Coast where we find the most barren and uninviting landscape on Svalbard. And if we are really lucky, we might even have a glimpse of a Polar bear - the King of Arctic!

Returning to Longyearbyen and Basecamp Spitsbergen in the afternoon, we guess that a warm shower is next on the agenda? Anyway, you can now change into your cityclothing which have been stored at the hotel during the snowmobile expedition.

Later this night we recommend the Arctic 4-course meal at the famous restaurant Huset, which also has it's own wine cellar - the world's northernmost of the kind, containing approximately 25 000 bottles. Accommodation in double rooms at Basecamp Spitsbergen.

Day 4 Shopping, departure day

Today you will have the day for your own to do shopping, visit the museum or gallery etc or participating in a short dog sledge trip (4 hours, not included).
