Basecamp Whirlwind Winter Tours 2010

For those who want it all! Five days / four nights. Russian town. Norwegian town. Ship-in-Ice. Isfjord Radio. Snow-mobile. Dog-sledding. Frozen snacks & thermos. Gourmet dining & cognac... but always a comfortable bed at night!

Off into the beautiful valleys, where steep mountains and majestic glaciers surround us. Stop in Barentsburg, the Russian settlement, lunch in the field before heading for overnight at Basecamp Isfjord Radio. Next day we head for Tempelfjorden, where the ship in the ice is waiting for us with a lovely 3-course dinner and comfortable cabins with warm showers and facilities you would not expect this close to the North Pole. Next morning, after breakfast we leave for the civilization again but first we spend the entire day crossing beautiful glaciers, valleys and plains. First of all, we’ll definitely go into the bottom of the Tempelfjord to gaze at the amazing front of the Tuna/Von Post glacier before returning to Longyearbyen in the afternoon and checking in at Basecamp Trappers Hotel, the roughest and most special hotel in town.
