Ecotourism Kenya has released the long list of nominees in 2017 Eco-Warrior Awards. We are glad to announce that Basecamp Masai Mara is among the long list of nominees in the category of Decent Work and Economic Growth Category. This category highlights operations that promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
As a community and conservation oriented organization, Basecamp has over the years continued to work closely with the local Maasai community in the development of sustainable tourism models that provide economic and social benefits.
This year, the Eco-Warrior Award has been altered to be in sync with the 2017 UNWTO Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and the WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards. The award will, therefore, celebrate organizations who can demonstrate the translation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their business operations.
