WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT KENYA’S BAN ON PLASTIC

Travellers coming into Kenya with any kind of plastic bag including duty-free plastic shopping bags shall be required to leave them at the point of entry as regulated by the National Environmental and Management Authority of Kenya.

This order was enforced as Kenya’s ban on the use, manufacture, and importation of all plastic bags for commercial and household packaging came into effect on Monday, August 28, 2017. The ban is part of Kenya’s government commitment to control environmental pollution.
