Classic Kenya Safari
This safari will be taking you north and later south through the Great Rift Valley, experience the drylands of Samburu, enjoy the lush slopes of Mount Kenya, be amazed by the beautiful birdlife here, and continue to Lake Nakuru with its National Park famous for their Rhino population and millions of flamingos. Reach your final destination Masai Mara and enjoy an abundance of wildlife. A classic road safari through Kenya at its best with the expertise from your tour leaders and guides!
Day itinerary as follows:
DAY 1: Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. Transfer to Basecamp Travel office, briefing and depart for Samburu and the dry areas north of Mount Kenya and reach Samburu National Park. Arrive for a late lunch. Afternoon game drive, look for the Grevy zebra, the reticulated giraffe, the Gerenuk and the Oryx - all unique to the Samburu National Park. Return to camp before sunset. Dinner & overnight campsite Shaba/Samburu
DAY 2: Spend another day in the Samburu Reserve, either with early morning / afternoon game drives or enjoy a full day out with picnic lunch - your choice! Dinner & overnight campsite Shaba/Samburu.
DAY 3: Early breakfast, leave the drylands for the more green areas around Mount Kenya. Arrive for lunch at the colonial Mt Kenya Safari Club. We spend some time here and a lecture will be held by the tour leaders over a cup of tea in the beautiful lounge overlooking the majestic Mt Kenya. Spend the rest of the afternoon walking the lush and green slopes of Mount Kenya. Dinner & overnight campsite Mount Kenya.
DAY 4: Breakfast, travel further south in the Great Rift Valley, and arrive at Lake Nakuru for lunch. Go for an afternoon game drive and look for the many rhinos, see the flamingos strolling the beaches, return to the lodge before sunset, dinner & overnight campsite Nakuru
DAY 5: Depart after breakfast and travel west of the Rift Valley to Masai Mara. Arrive in Masai Mara for a late lunch. Afternoon game drive in the Mara game reserve. Look for lions, elephants and giraffes. Return to camp before sunset, sit by the campfire and listen to the night sounds of the savannah. Dinner & overnight Dorobo Bushcamp Masai Mara

DAY 6: Morning tea or coffee, early morning walking safari, watch the savannah waking up, return to camp for a full breakfast. Relax in the shade of an acacia tree. For lunch we drive over to Basecamp Masai Mara, where a guided camp walk is being held and lunch is served. A lecture is being held by the tour leaders followed by an afternoon game drive, sundowner around the campfire, dinner & overnight Dorobo Bushcamp Masai Mara
DAY 7: Breakfast and then depart for Nairobi. Game drives on route through the reserve. Panoramic views when crossing the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to Nairobi Safari Club where we spend the night.
DAY 8: Transfer to airport after breakfast for flight home or to other onwards destinations. Extend your stay in Kenya by adding an extension to maybe Lamu or Mombasa. Or why not add a relaxing trip over to Zanzibar. Below you find examples of extensions possible with estimated costs. Please note that all costs mentioned are based on availability of flights and hotels. Please contact Basecamp for availability and costs.

Special info
Payments: most lodges take US dollars, Kenyan shillings or cards. For your own personal shopping it is good to have the local currency though.
Basecamp take KES, Us dollars, traveler’s cheques, VISA and MasterCard (NB! 6% addition on credit cards). We advice that you bring Kenyan shillings for shopping & tipping etc.
Radio communication for safety when in the bush walking, first aid kit provided for
Personal equipment: good trekking shoes, a pair of shorts, long trousers and sweater for the evening, extra pair of socks, sun hat, sun lotion, sun glasses, binoculars, torch and a fleece sweater for chilly nights.
Walking safari; minimum 18 years of age or 15 of age when accompanied by parents
Note; Talek school & The Maasai Arts & Crafts not open on Saturdays and Sundays, check with reception if need to change programme!

Air ticket cancellation and re-booking rules is established by the airline and applicable for all tickets booked by Basecamp Travel. Confirmed air tickets are non-refundable.
