Challenges & Responsibilities

Basecamp Challenges and Responsibilities
As guests in the Masai Mara, a unique ecosystem hosting more than 95 species of mammals, over 550 species of spectacular birds and thousands of insect species,  our challenge is to provide travellers with a sustainable tourism destination - leaving only the smallest of footprints behind.

Therefore, we run the camp in an environmentally sound way, we contribute to biodiversity conservation intitiatives and we support the local community and its culture.

As our guest at Basecamp you support the following projects:

Basecamp HIV/ AIDS Awareness Project
Partners: Talek community Health Clinic, CMF - Christian Missionary Foundation, A Better World NGO, Canada, Kenya Ministry of Health, Kenya FEMINA-HIP, Tanzania and Basecamp Explorer...

Mara Cheetah Conservation Project
