Background

Education is the key to development. In Talek region about 60% of the children go to school. Out of those very few girls are given the opportunity to education. Therefore Basecamp with guests and partners support the education of Maasai children contributing in a wide range of activities with funding for equipment, constructions, training programmes and sponsorships..

Aims

  • To play an active role in supporting Maasai childrens' education
  • To contribute to the asset building of the community through the children and their parents
  • To assist in fund raising for improvements on equipment and constructions

The way forward

  • To continue build awareness of the importance of education for Maasai children both among Basecamp visitors and the parents of the community
  • To set up visitor sponsorship programs for Maasai girls education
  • To intensify the co-operation with local schools on bio diversity and sustainable tourism awareness broadening the knowledge of the community.
  • To continue providing better equipment for classrooms and teachers in several different local school within the Talek area
