Cheetah monitoring on track

As of the 1st of March 2009 the Masai Mara's cheetah conservation program, supported by the Basecamp Foundation, had registered a total of 35 cheetahs in the research area near Basecamp (20 adults and 15 cubs).

Traveling- and leaving positive footprints

At Basecamp we believe the commonly used travel expression “leave nothing but footprints” is not enough. We believe in leaving positive footprints!

The Basecamp model of tourism actively supports environmental protection. To conserve nature and wildlife for the long run local communities must be involved -  and they must benefit directly from the protection. Otherwise it just won't work.

Responsible tourism can provide such opportunities. That's why the Basecamp Foundation is so involved in conservation through tourism!
