Volunteer at Basecamp
Join Masai Mara Conservation & Green Villages Project in Kenya. As a volunteer on this exciting project you will be assisting the teachers at the Koiyaki Guiding School by teaching language, culture, administration and computer skills training. You will also be involved with promoting the “Green Villages” concept in surrounding Maasai communities, as well as being involved with various conservation activities in a new and spectacular Maasai Mara conservancy area!
The Maasai Mara is quite possibly Africa’s finest safari destination, most famous for its annual wildebeest and zebra migration which has been called “the greatest wildlife show on earth”. This area has one of the highest densities of carnivores in Africa, as well as supporting a range of endangered species. This same attraction brings with it human and wildlife conflict as wild species and Maasai Livestock can compete for the same resources, with predators sometimes killing livestock and the Maasai people not always benefiting directly from the tourism or conservation.
