Basecamp Masai Mara nominated as the worlds best Eco-tourism hotel!

A small, exclusive safari camp in Kenya is attracting international attention! Basecamp Masai Mara is again nominated to a prestigious price - Skål’s Eco Tourism Award.

Skål, founded as an international association in 1934 is the largest organisation of travel and tourism professionals in the world, embracing all sectors of the tourism industry, including hoteliers, travel agents, airlines, tourism media, tourism students etc. Skål with 20,000 members is active in 90 Countries and approximately 500 locations worldwide.

Competition takes place in several different categories, Basecamp Masai Mara is among the 3 nominated in the category “Rural Accommodation”; - hotels connected to mountains, beaches, national parks, rivers, savannahs and forests.

Basecamp Explorer, a Norwegian company has during the past 10 years built up a unique safari experience on the Kenyan savannah. They also have destinations at Spitsbergen, in the Pyrenees, and India. The company has attracted a lot of attention and recognition for its commitment to sustainable tourism.

When Barack Obama and his family visited Kenya they selected Basecamp Masai Mara as their choice of destination.

The winner will be presented at Skål’s world congress in Budapest on November 2nd 2009.
